Cement is a pulverized hydraulic binder that reacts with water and sets into a hard and durable end-product. Cement is primarily used as the binder in concrete, the world’s most commonly used construction material. Other uses include various types of plaster and fillers as well as soil stabilisation.

Strength is one of cement’s key properties but it also has other properties that significantly affect the manufacture and properties of concrete and plaster. Such properties include:

  • chemical composition and additives
  • cement’s reactivity with water
  • binding, rate of strength development
  • fineness/water requirement and
  • heat development

Finnsementti is the only Finnish manufacturer of cement. Harnessing our century-long experience, we produce consistently superior cement and create jobs within our industry. The majority of Finland’s cement demand is produced at Finnsementti’s plants in Pargas and Lappeenranta. In addition to cement, our offering includes various concrete admixtures, mineral additives and special aggregates.
