Cement should only be transported in clean tanks. Contamination from any unwanted substances can have a detrimental effect on the properties of cement and concrete. The most common detrimental effects impact the concrete’s strength, shelf-life or appearance.

Substances that have a negative impact on cement and concrete are:

  • quicklime,
  • gypsym and desulphurisation products,
  • fertilisers and mixed fodder,
  • aluminium and ferrous sulfate,
  • bentonite,
  • sugars, salts, starch and flours,

which is why they must not be transported in the same tanks as cement and other concrete binders.

Finnsementti is the only Finnish manufacturer of cement. Harnessing our century-long experience, we produce consistently superior cement and create jobs within our industry. The majority of Finland’s cement demand is produced at Finnsementti’s plants in Pargas and Lappeenranta. In addition to cement, our offering includes various concrete admixtures, mineral additives and special aggregates.
